Mahendragarh Administration Moves To Seize Polluting Units’ Assets

Property Seizures Ordered For Stone Crushers Ignoring Environmental Penalties

by TheReportingTimes

Narnaul, July 15 — The district administration of Mahendragarh has been authorized to seize the assets of nearly two dozen local stone crushing operations following an escalation of enforcement actions by state environmental regulators. The Haryana State Pollution Control Board has turned over the cases of 22 defaulting facilities to the Deputy Commissioner to recover outstanding environmental compensation funds totaling 1.78 crore rupees. The recovery process, being executed as arrears of land revenue, targets operators who ignored repeated warning notices after violating clean air and emissions standards.

The enforcement drive represents the final phase of a wider campaign that saw 5.39 crore rupees in penalties levied against 88 local stone crushers. While 67 of the penalized businesses complied with the directives and paid a combined total of 3.61 crore rupees, the remaining segment of operators failed to settle their accounts. This persistent non-compliance forced regulators to implement the stringent attachment provisions of the Land Revenue Act to secure the remaining funds.

The regional environmental department confirmed that the transition to property attachment was necessary to ensure the accountability of commercial operations in the district. In a formal compliance report, Regional Officer Vijay Chaudhary affirmed that the board has referred all defaulting cases to the deputy commissioner Mahendragarh, for recovery of the outstanding dues as arrears of land revenue, thus paving the way for attachment of both movable and immovable properties.

Administrative reports indicate that the targeted operators had initially accepted the penalty structures calculated by the joint environmental committee, as no official appeals were filed against the assessments. The biggest individual penalty balances currently pending include Shree Balaji Stone Crusher in Jainpur at 16.06 lakh rupees, Karni Maa Stone Crusher in Garhi at 14.81 lakh rupees, and Shree Ganesh Stone Crusher in Gangutana at 13.25 lakh rupees. Smaller pending amounts are also being actively pursued, including 6.12 lakh rupees from Mahalaxmi Stone Crusher in Dholera, alongside outstanding balances from Bajrang Bali Stone Crusher in Zerpur, Keshav Stone Crusher in Gangutana, and Bajrang Stone Crusher in Faizabad.
