New Delhi, July 22: Opposition parties have formed a joint delegation to meet activist Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, aiming to convince him to break his ongoing fast. Sources declared that the MPs will assure the hunger striker that issues concerning education sector accountability and competitive examination irregularities will be taken up during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Prominent leaders participating in the visit include Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose, and CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas.
The activist previously maintained that he would end his hunger strike if Members of Parliament assured him that accountability in the education system would be prioritized in legislative debates. Following a crackdown on protesting students, Wangchuk asserted that he would remain on his fast until those political guarantees were explicitly communicated.
Sources stated that the visiting leaders plan to fulfill these exact conditions at his bedside, urging him to conclude his indefinite fast while they carry the issue into parliamentary proceedings.
