Shimla, July 31: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh will continue as Principal Advisor to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for an additional two years, following a formal order issued by the state government. The retired senior IAS officer was initially inducted into the Chief Minister’s advisory team upon retiring from civil service on July 31, 2023, and will now serve an extended term.
The development reflects ongoing administrative continuity within the state setup, even as political observers recalled earlier stances taken by Chief Minister Sukhu regarding Singh’s tenure during the previous BJP government. Although Sukhu had expressed reservations when Singh was made Chief Secretary under former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, the Chief Minister maintained Singh in a vital advisory capacity post-retirement.
Singh’s earlier stint as Chief Secretary under the previous administration saw an abrupt end following internal administrative re-arrangements. The latest extension consolidates his position within the current leadership, ensuring his continued involvement in state administrative affairs.
