Chamba, August 8: At least seven passengers lost their lives and eleven sustained injuries when a private transport bus skidded off a hilly curve and crashed onto a lower roadway in the Chalunj area of Churah.

The public transport bus was heading toward Chamba from Bairagarh when the vehicle went out of control along a sharp incline, causing several passengers to get pinned under the fallen structure.

Rescue crews swiftly arrived at the spot, utilizing heavy lifting machinery to raise the chassis and free the trapped commuters. Authorities verified that those with injuries were transferred to nearby health centers for urgent care, with medical staff indicating that the condition of multiple victims remains serious.

Regional representative Hans Raj described the catastrophe as extremely painful while offering prayers for the deceased and injured citizens.

The tragedy has renewed attention regarding commuters traversing the difficult topography of the region, where acute curves and narrow mountain passes continue to present operational hazards for passenger vehicles.
