Bengaluru, August 8: A coordinated enforcement drive across Bengaluru Urban district revealed severe kitchen hygiene lapses and expired food inventory within several of the city’s premier hotel chains.
Inspecting officers gathered 35 food samples—encompassing meat, poultry, dairy, cooking oil, and condiments—to undergo rigorous laboratory analysis to determine further regulatory action.
During the operations, enforcement teams recorded multiple structural infractions, including unhygienic preparation areas, compromised storage environments, and poor handling practices. Regulatory personnel immediately disposed of unsafe items on-site to eliminate consumer risk.
The highest volume of disposal occurred at The Lalit Ashok (Annex South), where inspectors destroyed hundreds of kilograms of spoiled produce and meats. Significant stock was similarly confiscated from Radisson Blu (The Atria), Taj Yeshwantpur, Shangri-La, Four Seasons, and Vivanta Whitefield.
Addressing the findings, administrative leadership stated that the state-wide initiative aims to enforce complete compliance across luxury establishments, warning that formal legal actions will follow any verified statutory violations.
