Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a forty-five minute meeting in Dhaka with Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi, focusing on future official engagements and ongoing diplomatic priorities.
The state-level exchange took place against the backdrop of changing political dynamics following the general elections earlier this year.
High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi declared that India remains focused on maintaining a constructive and forward-looking partnership with Bangladesh. He asserted that constructive engagement provides the foundation to address all mutual matters effectively.
The envoy noted that both nations continue to explore opportunities to deepen bilateral trade, infrastructure ties, and regional stability.
Reports indicate that Bangladesh representatives outlined specific conditions during the meeting, linking future bilateral summits and state visits to the formal extradition process of former executive officials currently residing in India. Parallel talks involving defense advisers and senior security officials further addressed ongoing boundary management and intelligence coordination.
Indian representatives maintained that private press conferences hosted by political figures in New Delhi operate independently of state diplomatic policy.
