NEW DELHI, AUGUST 14: Delhi law enforcement and transit agencies finalized comprehensive operational plans to manage vehicular flow and public transport for the upcoming Independence Day events surrounding the historic Red Fort. The capital’s traffic wing put special diversions in place covering major corridors, including C-Hexagon India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, and Ring Road segments, while restricting interstate bus operations between key terminals during morning hours.
Traffic authorities urged the commuting public to avoid designated restricted zones and strictly utilize designated detour routes during the official morning event window.
The Traffic Police have advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra travel time, avoid restricted roads, and use designated alternate routes by following Variable Message Sign and the directions of Traffic Police personnel, the official advisory declared.
Supporting the traffic management blueprint, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation confirmed early service commencement to accommodate attendees, providing key access points through Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Delhi Gate stations. Metro authorities also coordinated with the Ministry of Defence to distribute more than one lakh thirty thousand special QR transit tickets to bona fide guests, ensuring organized movement across the network throughout the celebrations.
