Punjab Government Schools Now Match Top Private Institutions: AAP Chief

Arvind Kejriwal dismisses social media video as outdated, highlights swift response from state minister

NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH, AUGUST 19: A growing number of government schools in Punjab are now matching top private institutions in infrastructure and standard of instruction, stated Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal.

The party chief hit back at attempt to misrepresent the Bhagwant Mann administration after an old video showing a state school gained traction on social media. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains personally conducted an immediate site visit to verify the ground reality, a move Arvind Kejriwal declared as a direct reflection of the government’s focus on essential public services.

The AAP leader maintained that high-quality education and public healthcare remain the party’s ultimate priorities, asserting that structural progress was accomplished first in Delhi before being rolled out in Punjab.

Addressing the incident in a detailed post on X, Arvind Kejriwal stated, “First in Delhi and then in Punjab, the AAP brought several improvements to government schools, many of them becoming better than the best private schools.” He cited thousands of cases across both states where parents chose to move their children out of private schools into upgraded government classrooms.

The AAP Convenor declared that the overhaul of Punjab’s schooling system continues steadily, with nearly all campuses now equipped with necessary amenities. Welcoming the broader public debate around school infrastructure, he affirmed that national development remains unattainable unless every citizen gains access to free, high-quality education and healthcare.
