Advanced Forensic Tools and Emergency Patrols Enhance Regional Crime Prevention

by TheReportingTimes

Fazilka, August 20: Fazilka District Police has deployed artificial intelligence and digital forensic tools to strengthen criminal investigations and field operations across the border district. Law enforcement personnel are utilizing the Punjab Artificial Intelligence System for identity verification, the VAHAN database for real-time vehicle checks, and a specialized Digital Forensic Laboratory to examine electronic evidence.

District police leadership highlighted the role of modern intelligence systems in tracking fugitive offenders and disrupting illicit networks.

“CCTV surveillance and technology-driven intelligence have further enhanced crime detection, investigation and operational efficiency,” Senior Superintendent of Police Gagan Ajit Singh stated.

The SSP declared that tools such as NATGRID assisted in tracing absconding murder convict Sandeep Tomar in Madhya Pradesh and aided operations against cross-border smuggling networks.

To reinforce field safety, authorities deployed 21 Emergency Response Vehicles linked to the 112 emergency helpline, supported by PCR motorcycle patrols and seven permanent night checkpoints at key entry points. Traffic enforcement teams issued 23,804 challans and impounded 921 vehicles. Preventive law enforcement measures also resulted in 976 detentions to maintain public order. Parallel public awareness sessions were conducted to educate residents on reporting cybercrimes via the 1930 helpline.
