Gurugram, Sept 16: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority has launched a plan to convert six of the city’s busiest road networks into high-tech model corridors equipped with real-time commuter assistance technologies. The initiative aims to enhance safety, optimize traffic flow, and modernise emergency response across prominent commercial and residential sectors.
Under the framework, high-density routes such as the stretch from Hero Honda Chowk to Sector 29 and the passage between Rajiv Chowk and Bakhtawar Chowk will be continuously monitored through an interconnected network of CCTV cameras and AI systems. Municipal authorities affirmed that the central command infrastructure will process continuous traffic data to ease congestion on historically bottlenecked routes.
The upgraded corridors will feature Variable Message Signboards offering automated alerts on road conditions, potential hazards, and traffic diversions. Furthermore, public address equipment installed near major junctions will facilitate rapid broadcasting of emergency instructions directly from the command center.
For on-road security, direct-line Emergency Call Points will allow commuters to communicate directly with emergency services in critical situations. Authorities maintained that the integration of digital safety tools represents a shift toward technology-driven traffic administration across the city’s primary vehicular routes.
