CHANDIGARH — Normal operations were restored at key state infrastructure offices on Thursday following multi-day searches conducted by central investigating authorities, prompting responses from the ruling Aam Aadmi Party regarding administrative autonomy.
Speaking to reporters, Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated that locking down development authorities like GMADA directly hinders public projects, land regulation, and local civic administration. He maintained that regulatory frameworks and central institutions must function within constitutional parameters without impeding routine public delivery mechanisms.
Cheema affirmed that the state administration will continue to prioritize democratic governance, transparent public service, and citizen welfare despite operational challenges. He maintained that political attempts to intimidate opposition-governed states are counterproductive, declaring that the citizens of Punjab will respond to such measures through democratic channels in upcoming electoral exercises.
