Chief Minister Mann reaffirms commitment to state peace and religious sanctity following legislation passage

Government vows strict action against beadbi as Nanaksar Sect head welcomes legislative measures

CHANDIGARH: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that safeguarding the respect and sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a sacred duty that the state administration is bound to uphold.

Speaking after receiving blessings from Nanaksar Sect head Baba Lakha Singh Ji in Chandigarh, the Chief Minister maintained that the passage of the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, serves as a necessary legislative step to protect community sentiments and preserve public harmony.

Baba Lakha Singh affirmed that the legislative action provides reassurance to the Sikh panth worldwide, noting that strong governance is essential to prevent acts of disrespect toward holy scriptures.

Chief Minister Mann maintained that the government considers itself a humble custodian tasked with serving the public and maintaining communal brotherhood. He declared that the state will continue working on the path shown by spiritual leaders to maintain stability, social cohesion, and development across Punjab.
