Chandigarh CEO Launches Voter Verification Drive After Electoral Roll Shrinks by 2 Lakh

Five-Day Special Camps Begin Across Polling Stations to Rectify Rolls Ahead of Civic Elections

by TheReportingTimes

CHANDIGARH, OCT 7: To address growing public concerns over the removal of nearly two lakh names from Chandigarh’s electoral rolls, the Union Territory’s Chief Electoral Officer has initiated a comprehensive, five-day voter re-enrolment and verification drive across all polling stations. The initiative mandates the public release of deleted voter lists to restore transparency and enable displaced citizens to re-register.

Under the revised framework, BLOs accompanied by political party representatives will conduct house-to-house visits to verify the status of missing electors and register eligible first-time voters. Special camps scheduled between October 7 and October 11 (10:00 AM to 3:00 PM) will allow residents to submit Form 6 for new enrolment, Form 7 for objections, and Form 8 for corrections. Citizens can also check their voter status through the official CEO Chandigarh portal or the national Voter Helpline (1950).
