NEW DELHI, OCT 10: Federal investigators have stepped in to examine the security breach aboard flydubai flight FZ1073 following the filing of an NIA case under stringent anti-terror and anti-hijacking legislation. The investigation focuses on the events of September 30, when Captain Smit Machchhar was seriously injured in an abrupt cockpit attack by the co-pilot while operating the route from Dubai to Tel Aviv.

Authorities noted that the violent episode was treated as an attempted hijacking or sabotage, which was thwarted due to the injured captain’s quick thinking in granting access to others onboard to overpower the assailant. The NIA will now lead the domestic inquiry to uncover potential wider linkages and secure comprehensive evidence regarding the threat to civil aviation safety.
