Saharanpur, Oct 24: Seamless transit along the 135-kilometer Uttar Pradesh stretch of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is reshaping local business dynamics and expanding market access for exporters. Industrial representatives from Behat and Saharanpur asserted that faster access to Delhi port facilities has eliminated chronic transit delays, ensuring export shipments reach international buyers without schedule penalties. Local business leaders maintained that day-trip capabilities to national capital trade hubs allow faster decision-making and operational flexibility.
Regional development observers noted rising land values alongside incoming proposals for cold storage facilities, warehouses, and logistics parks near key highway interchanges.
Representatives affirmed that the accelerated movement of agricultural commodities like basmati rice and fresh produce directly to major distribution centers is further strengthening the rural economy across the corridor.
Delhi-Dehradun Corridor has also brought changes to the transport business, Anoop Khanna, Saharanpur Udyog Bandhu Convenor and transport entrepreneur said.
“Earlier, a truck travelling from Delhi to Saharanpur could return only the next day. The expenses were high, now, the same truck can complete a round trip to Delhi within a day,” he said.
According to him, turnaround time has decreased by approximately 50%.
Transporter Majid Ali says fuel savings are a major benefit they understood. “Earlier, trucks got stuck in traffic jams for three to four hours, whereas the direct road now saves a lot of time,” he said.
According to him, the corridor saves approximately ₹3,500 to ₹4,000 in diesel per trip. A transporter making 10 trips a month can save ₹35,000 to ₹40,000.
