Chandigarh, October 27: In a milestone moment for the legal community, 23-year-old Advocate Asmi was declared elected unopposed to the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, establishing a national record as the youngest person ever to join a State Bar Council in India.

The casual vacancy arose following the appointment of Minderjeet Yadav to the bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Returning Officer Pardeep Parmar confirmed her election on Tuesday after no competing nominations were submitted prior to the deadline on October 26.

Prominent members of the legal fraternity, including Chairman Amit Rana, Vice-Chairman Sharmila Sharma, and Bar Council of India Member Karnajit Singh, commended her historic election and welcomed the entry of Generation Z leadership into the bar council’s governance.
