Bhiwani Farmers Seek Relief After Canal Flood Inundates Biran Village

Inflow from Nigana feeder destroys standing paddy; district administration urged to begin drainage

by TheReportingTimes

Bhiwani, Oct 30: Agricultural fields across Biran village in Bhiwani district remain severely flooded following an unexpected breach in the Nigana feeder canal, submerging about 150 acres of paddy crops.

Growers maintained that both unharvested paddy and recently cut crops awaiting transport have suffered heavy damage due to continuous water accumulation. Farmers expressed concern that the lack of prompt drainage outlets could leave fields unfit for timely cultivation during the next cropping cycle.

Villagers asserted that emergency measures are needed from irrigation and district officials to plug the canal break and drain the submerged tracts. Representatives stated that administrative intervention is necessary to halt incoming water and mitigate further soil saturation.

Affected landholders declared that a formal girdawari assessment must be conducted to evaluate the exact losses incurred by each grower, calling on state authorities to ensure adequate relief funds are disbursed swiftly to support rural livelihoods.
