Court Sentences Three, Including Two Nigerians, for Drug Offenses

Mohali, April 25– A special NDPS court in Mohali sentenced three individuals, including two Nigerians and a Faridkot native, for their involvement in drug-related offenses. The sentences varied from three months to 10 years, with fines imposed as well.

Okeke Solivan Tobechukwu, 47, a Nigerian national, received a 10-year rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹1.05 lakh. His compatriot, Uche Oyeagbuha, 39, was sentenced to three years in prison and a ₹35,000 fine. Puneet Chabra, 41, alias Kaka, from Kotakpura in Faridkot, currently residing in Phase 3B2, Mohali, was sentenced to three months in jail and a ₹5,000 fine.

The trio was charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act following an incident at the STF police station in Mohali. According to case records, on December 14, 2017, police were conducting a routine patrol near the old courts complex in Phase 3B2 when they spotted Kaka emerging from the Phase 3B2 market around 1:50 PM. Upon seeing the police, he attempted to flee, but was apprehended after a brief chase.
