Chandigarh, July 5: Massive crackdowns on organized crime and illegal narcotics have led to the arrest of 71,538 drug smugglers and 43,127 gangsters across Punjab, according to official data released on Saturday. The operations run parallel to the state’s broader public assistance goals, which include the fulfillment of key governance pledges. Security forces recently seized 2.1 kilograms of heroin and arrested 187 suspects in a single day, pushing the state’s comprehensive anti-drug campaign into its 489th day of active enforcement.
The state’s current administrative strategy combines strict law enforcement measures with public security initiatives to foster a safer environment for the younger generation. According to regional representatives, the police departments have received clear directives to execute these campaigns diligently while ensuring public safety remains uncompromised.
“During this historic campaign, the Punjab Police has demonstrated remarkable vigilance and achieved major success,” MLA and party spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal stated. He declared that public welfare commitments are being fulfilled alongside these security operations, noting that financial assistance under the Sanman Yojana is actively reaching beneficiaries. “The Bhagwant Mann government has been pursuing an uncompromising campaign against anti-social elements while simultaneously delivering on its public welfare commitments.”
The multi-pronged strategy relies on daily vigilance by district police teams to monitor and dismantle smuggling routes. Administrative reports indicate that the specialized ‘Gangsters Te Vaar’ initiative has maintained its momentum for over five months, resulting in substantial disruptions to illicit syndicates.
“No criminal who disturbs Punjab’s peace or plays with the lives of the state’s youth will be spared,” Dhaliwal asserted. He maintained that the administration plans to sustain the current intensity of police operations until the targeted security objectives are fully achieved. “The Bhagwant Mann Government will continue taking the strictest possible action against every such element until Punjab becomes completely free from gangsterism and drugs.”
