CM Saini issues strict directives to curb official vehicle use

Haryana ministers and officials told to downsize convoys to save public funds

Chandigarh, May 14: Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has initiated a major shift in the Haryana government’s transport policy, ordering a 50 percent reduction in his own security convoy. The directive, aimed at promoting austerity and environmental awareness, was extended to all state ministers and high-ranking officials. Saini stated that the era of long, resource-heavy motorcades must end to save taxpayer money and reduce the state’s carbon footprint.

During the announcement, the Chief Minister stated his intention to work one day a week without using any government transportation. He affirmed that this measure is designed to demonstrate a commitment to fuel saving and to encourage others to think about environmental impact. “This campaign to save oil should not be limited to the government alone, but every citizen should become a partner in it,” Saini declared, urging residents to opt for public transit whenever possible.

The new guidelines strictly prohibit the use of excessive vehicles during official visits and district tours. Saini maintained that the number of cars should be limited strictly to what is required for functional security. He noted that the excessive use of government machinery during transit is an unnecessary drain on energy and funds that could be better utilized for public welfare projects.

The Chief Minister asserted that these changes are part of a larger vision to create a more grounded and responsible administration. By reducing his own convoy and encouraging a shift toward public transport, Saini stated he hopes to foster a culture of simplicity within the state’s leadership. He maintained that the government’s priority is to serve the people efficiently while remaining conscious of the state’s ecological and financial health.
