Chandigarh, June 23: The Punjab Government’s upcoming implementation of its premier social safety net scheme will see thousands of women receiving direct financial aid to mark the beginning of July. The ‘Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna’ offers a recurring baseline support of ₹1,000 per month for general beneficiaries and ₹1,500 per month for women belonging to Scheduled Caste categories, with the initial disbursement combining the allocations for three months into a single payout. The ruling administration asserted that the program successfully links targeted financial resources with a broader legislative vision of social equity and respect.
The policy framework has been deliberately structured to maximize inclusivity and prevent institutional bottlenecks. “If there is more than one eligible woman in a family, each woman will receive this honour amount,” AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated, adding that only a committed governance model could design and execute a welfare plan of this magnitude. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had previously finalized these disbursement details during a community outreach event, adjusting the payout schedule based on direct feedback from the public.
Reflecting on the societal impact of the program, the Chief Minister had declared that the assistance is fundamentally about preserving self-respect and providing reliable resources for everyday expenses. The state leadership maintained that economic vulnerabilities often hinder personal independence, making it imperative for the government to step in with robust structural support. By transferring these funds directly into personal bank accounts, the state intends to enhance women’s decision-making roles within the socio-economic fabric of the region.
