Chandigarh, June 19: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann ordered strict instructions for the state police to identify and apprehend the masterminds behind a fraudulent video intended to malign his reputation. The directive follows two independent external forensic reports that analyzed 1,191 frames of the footage, concluding that none of the physical attributes, including facial profiles, height, or body structure, match those of the Chief Minister.
The investigation revealed that the individual recorded in the video is at least two inches taller than the Chief Minister, proving the footage features a lookalike. The administration described the video as a joint political gimmick by opposing parties to weaken the public support enjoyed by the current government.
Addressing the public regarding the development, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the state and its spiritual traditions.
“I’ve always served Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and people; I cannot even think of having any conflict with Sangat,” the Chief Minister declared.
He expressed deep disappointment that certain administrative figures have seemingly aligned with political factions rather than focusing on their spiritual responsibilities.
The Chief Minister noted that the opposition’s discomfort stems directly from his government’s successful public initiatives. These include granting holy city status to Amritsar, Sri Anandpur Sahib, and Talwandi Sabo, alongside tax exemptions for vehicles dedicated to carrying holy scriptures.
He maintained that as long as the citizens of Punjab stand firmly behind his welfare agenda, which includes the successful closure of costly toll plazas and widespread infrastructural development, such smear campaigns will fail to impact his governance.
