Haryana Outlines Smart Infrastructure Blueprint for Shrine, Heritage Site Cleanliness

High-tech plan deploys geo-tagged monitoring and sensor bins at Mata Sheetla Devi, Mansa Devi, and Brahma Sarovar

GURUGRAM, OCT 2 — Haryana authorities have finalized a modern waste management framework targeting high-footfall religious centers and cultural heritage sites through sensor technology and structured collection zones.

Developed by the Urban Local Bodies Department in compliance with recent judicial guidelines, the strategy addresses infrastructure requirements for daily sweeping, waste segregation, and real-time monitoring within designated precincts and 500-meter buffer zones. Phase one implementation focuses on key locations in Panchkula, Gurugram, and Thanesar.

The operational layout eliminates open collection points within buffer areas, replacing them with closed collection stations and automated IoT-enabled bins capable of reporting capacity status. The plan also establishes strict rules for nearby business operators, dharamshalas, and food stalls, while banning the immersion of floral waste in local water bodies. Dedicated litter-picking units and specialized transport vehicles will operate continuously during peak visitor seasons to maintain environmental standards.
