Key Resignations Hit Ruling Party Ahead of 2027 Assembly Polls

Sanaur and Samana legislators exit AAP after replacement of constituency leadership in local segments

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, Nov 1:The Aam Aadmi Party’s election preparations in Punjab encountered key leadership changes as sitting MLAs Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra and Chetan Singh Jouramajra formally resigned from the party platform. The move came shortly after the AAP began rolling out its slate of official candidates for the state’s upcoming legislative contest.

Speculation regarding ticket redistribution grew after the party designated new constituency in-charges for both Sanaur and Samana. The strategic appointments pointed to a recalibration of local party organization ahead of the general state elections.

Pathanmajra’s departure follows extended public scrutiny regarding legal allegations, which affected his position within the constituency’s leadership hierarchy. Jouramajra’s exit comes after his tenure as a state Cabinet minister ended during a prior executive reorganization, creating friction over regional representation. Reports indicate both exiting representatives are evaluating entry into the BJP.
