New Delhi, July 31: Parliamentary proceedings in both Houses faced persistent disruptions on Friday as opposition members continued raising slogans regarding ongoing administrative concerns. Amid the prevailing din in the Lower House, lawmakers approved key legislative amendments intended to streamline statutory registration procedures across the country before proceedings were suspended for the day.
During the debate in the Upper House, presiding officer Radhakrishnan affirmed that democratic conventions require mutual attention between competing legislative sides. “You want everybody to listen, you don’t want to listen to anyone,” Radhakrishnan asserted while appealing for order. He stated that “This is wrong. This is dictatorship. You don’t want to value democratic values. You must listen to others as well.”
The Parliamentary Affairs Ministry declared that the government remained fully prepared to engage in complete debates on all scheduled bills. Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha subsequently wrapped up their Friday sessions, with scheduled business set to resume on Monday morning.
