National Security Concerns Raised Over Starlink Entry

RSS Body Urges Government to Reject Foreign Satellite Broadband Application

by TheReportingTimes

NEW DELHI, OCT 13: Calls to block the entry of satellite internet operator Starlink into the Indian market intensified on Tuesday after the Swadeshi Jagran Manch highlighted potential security vulnerabilities associated with foreign space-based networks. SJM leaders affirmed that current regulatory frameworks demand strict control over internet traffic routing to safeguard against illegal operations and unmonitored communications. Officials maintained that Starlink’s satellite laser links present technical hurdles for domestic regulatory enforcement.

Ashwani Mahajan asserted that the company’s reluctance to commit to location-specific service suspensions during security emergencies raises serious administrative concerns. Investigators declared that unauthorized satellite equipment has previously been detected in sensitive border zones, underscoring the necessity of strict gateway compliance. SJM representatives maintained that domestic telecommunication networks and indigenous 5Gi technology provide robust, cost-effective service while adhering to sovereign security protocols.

Law enforcement and regulatory authorities confirmed that all foreign satellite communications proposals undergo multi-departmental evaluation prior to commercial clearance. Observers noted that the organization’s stance reflects ongoing efforts to promote self-reliance and protect domestic infrastructure from unverified external systems. Government sources affirmed that final decisions regarding commercial satellite licensing will strictly prioritize national security requirements over external pressures.
