NEW DELHI, OCT 6: Security agencies established extensive checkpoints and heavy personnel deployments across central Delhi on Tuesday in preparation for a proposed demonstration by parliamentarians of the INDIA bloc. Law enforcement officers initiated heightened vigil on Monday night to manage public order ahead of the scheduled march toward the Election Commission of India headquarters.
The heightened security matrix encompasses Vijay Chowk, Akashvani Bhawan, and the Patel Chowk Metro station area, where contingents of the Rapid Action Force were stationed alongside city police. Lawmakers planned to assemble at Makar Dwar before proceeding toward the election office to present their position.
Operational restrictions were also implemented around Jantar Mantar under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to maintain order across adjacent sectors. Police teams remained positioned at transit points throughout the zone to regulate vehicular traffic and public movement.
“The deployment was planned early to ensure that normal routine activities remain uninterrupted while keeping necessary public order safeguards in place,” affirmed a security official monitoring the area.
Opposition representatives declared that the march addresses grievances surrounding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar alongside the execution of the Special Intensive Revision process, prompting parliamentarians to seek a formal audience with the commission.
