Lucknow, June 6: An upgraded monitoring framework helped boost Uttar Pradesh’s excise collections to Rs 10,635.69 crore for the April-May period, marking an increase of Rs 865 crore over previous seasonal returns.
The fiscal progress report issued on Friday details an 8.85 percent upward trajectory from the previous year’s initial collection baseline of Rs 9,770.68 crore. Administrative coordinators stated that modern accountability measures and data-driven oversight platforms helped secure the growth by tightening oversight over regional supply chains.
“If the current momentum continues, the Excise Department could surpass its previous records during the ongoing financial year,” Excise Commissioner Dr. Adarsh Singh declared.
Operational statistics for May reached Rs 5,387.63 crore, complementing the Rs 5,248 crore registered during the prior monthly cycle. Parallel field inspections aimed at protecting state commerce resulted in the seizure of 2.29 lakh liters of contraband alcohol. Security forces detained 1,564 suspects linked to unauthorized distribution rings, subsequently placing 298 individuals into judicial custody.
Nitin Agarwal, Minister of State for Excise, maintained that the revenue performance acts as a vital element in reinforcing the broader financial stability of the state. He affirmed that the transparent policy guidelines introduced by the administration have successfully elevated institutional output while safeguarding fiscal targets.
