Ayodhya, June 26: All eight individuals suspected of siphoning off donations from the Ayodhya Ram temple have been taken into custody by senior police officials. The suspects, who were tracked down and detained in Ayodhya on Thursday night, are currently undergoing intense interrogation regarding the missing funds.
The case stems from an official complaint lodged by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust member Krishna Mohan. This led the Uttar Pradesh government to set up a Special Investigation Team, which recently completed its preliminary inquiry and recommended immediate legal action against those involved in the counting of cash and valuables.
The individuals face severe legal consequences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with the police invoking laws tied to organizational theft and collusion. “All the accused were in Ayodhya itself and were arrested on Thursday night. Further questioning is under way. Police are preparing to present them before a magistrate,” a senior official declared to PTI.
Judicial processing is underway as investigators compile evidence under Sections 306, 316, 317, and 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, covering servant theft, breach of trust, possession of stolen goods, and conspiracy. The administration asserted that the investigation will continue to follow due process as the accused are prepared for their initial magistrate appearance.
