Shooter Arrested After Firing at YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s House

FARIDABAD, Aug. 22 — A 19-year-old man allegedly involved in the firing at YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav’s house in Gurugram was arrested early Friday after a brief encounter with police on the outskirts of Faridabad.

The accused, identified as Ishant Gandhi of Jawahar Colony in Faridabad, was shot in the leg during the exchange and admitted to a hospital under police custody. A country-made pistol was seized from him, and his motorcycle has also been taken into custody.

According to police, a joint team of the Crime Branch from Sector 30 and the Central unit set up barricades around 4:30 a.m. on Neemka Road near Faridpur village after receiving a tip-off. When officers signalled a motorcycle without a number plate to stop, the rider turned abruptly to flee. The bike skidded, and the suspect tried to escape on foot while opening fire on police.

“Around four shots were fired at the police team. In retaliation, our officers fired twice, aiming at his legs. One bullet struck, and he fell to the ground before being arrested,” said Mukesh Kumar, DCP (Crime), Faridabad. “He was one of the shooters in the firing at YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s house on August 17. We will interrogate him once doctors allow.”

On August 17, at around 5:30 a.m., at least 24 rounds were fired at Yadav’s residence in Sector 57, Gurugram. Bullets struck windows, doors and the ceiling, though Yadav was not present at the time. CCTV footage showed Gandhi firing during the incident, investigators said.

The Bhau gang has since claimed responsibility for the attack, accusing Yadav of promoting a betting app. Police are also probing possible links between this case and a separate firing incident targeting singer Rahul Fazilpuria, who recently collaborated with Yadav on a music album that had drawn controversy.

Search operations are underway to trace other suspects believed to have been involved in the Gurugram firing.
