Chandigarh, 18 September: The court has accepted the police closure report in a case against rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, effectively quashing the FIR registered in 2018 at Mataur.
The case had been filed over the use of allegedly obscene and derogatory language against women in Honey Singh’s song Makhna. The complaints were lodged by ASI Lakhwinder Kaur and the then Chairperson of the Punjab Women’s Commission, Manisha Gulati.
During the National Lok Adalat proceedings, both complainants expressed that they had no objection to the dismissal of the case, prompting the court to approve the closure report.
Officials said the decision formally ends the legal proceedings related to the song, marking relief for the rapper after nearly seven years since the FIR was registered.
