Chandigarh Chief Secretary pushes CHB for sustainable housing

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, Oct 18: Chandigarh Chief Secretary H Rajesh Prasad has called for innovative and forward-looking housing plans that align with the city’s evolving urban landscape and growth priorities. Chairing a review meeting of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), Prasad said that the Board must focus on creative solutions to meet future housing demands while ensuring efficiency and transparency in its operations.

“The CHB plays a pivotal role in providing affordable and planned housing to the residents of Chandigarh. It must now take a lead in developing modern, sustainable housing models that reflect the city’s planning ethos,” Prasad said.

The meeting reviewed the CHB’s ongoing activities, including staff strength, recovery of outstanding dues, and progress of various development works. However, officials said that no decision was taken on the proposed general housing scheme in Sector 53.

Prasad also directed the Board to prepare a comprehensive roadmap detailing its contribution to Chandigarh’s broader development goals. As part of the Administration’s efforts to transform the city into a Model Solar City, the Chief Secretary instructed officials to initiate the installation of rooftop solar panels on CHB flats.

The meeting was attended by Finance Secretary Diprava Lakra, CHB CEO Pardeep Kumar, and other senior officials.
