Jalalabad, Nov 25: Authorities recovered 5.414 kilograms of heroin, a Chinese pistol, ammunition, and magazines in a cross-border smuggling case near the Jalalabad international border, police said. The drugs were reportedly dropped by a drone from Pakistan.

Two suspects, Karnail Singh (50) and Gurpreet Singh Lovpreet (27), were arrested by the 65 Bn Border Security Force under the Abohar Sector. “The men were seen acting suspiciously during a night patrol on November 23-24 and were found to be in touch with a drug smuggler in Pakistan,” said an officer of the Inspector rank.

A case has been registered at the Jalalabad Sadar Police Station under the NDPS Act, with Inspector Shimla Rani handling the probe. Fazilka SSP Gurmeet Singh said a search at Baljinder Singh’s house in Chak Tahliwala led to the seizure of 10 packets of heroin, 5.414 kg in total, wrapped in yellow tape.

The raid also uncovered a Chinese pistol, four magazines, and 12 rounds of .30 bore ammunition. “Baljinder Singh has been named in the FIR. Police are actively searching to apprehend him,” Gurmeet Singh said.

Officials described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to curb cross-border narcotics trafficking and strengthen security along the border regions.
