Chandigarh, July 21: Punjabi performer Diljit Dosanjh affirmed that the government must actively listen to student grievances following police action on demonstrators during the recent Sansad Chalo rally. In a message shared online, the artist maintained that the security response against young protesters was unjust and called upon decision-makers to engage in constructive dialogue with the youth. He declared that the opinions and concerns of the public hold immense value in a democratic setup.
Reflecting on his past public stands, Dosanjh declared that he is fully prepared to face familiar tags and criticism for standing with the students. He recalled encountering significant personal and legal challenges after voicing support for the farmers’ protest. The artist maintained that while he had previously kept distance from political matters to focus on his work as an performer, the harsh treatment of young citizens prompted him to speak out.
