North Andros, July 11: An official investigation is underway in the Bahamas after a small aircraft crashed into the waters of North Andros, killing all ten people on board. The government responded to the Friday night disaster by ordering an immediate halt to all Flamingo Air operations. The fatal flight involved a Bahamas-registered Cessna 402 that plunged into the waters west of Nassau, transforming the island nation’s milestone celebrations into a period of national mourning.

The aircraft was traveling on a routine domestic route when the disaster occurred. According to statements from the Bahamian Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority, the flight originated at Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau and was bound for San Andros before coming down. Emergency rescue teams initially held hope that one individual might have survived the impact, but subsequent sweeps confirmed the total loss of life.

Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis shared the grim reality with the public as citizens observed the 53rd independence anniversary of the archipelago. He maintained that the accident cast a dark shadow over what should have been a festive occasion for the country.

“We gather beneath a cloud of great sorrow,” the Prime Minister declared during his address. “It has become a day of mourning. To every family that has received the devastating news that someone they love will not be coming home, we offer our deepest condolences.”

Investigators are currently examining the wreckage and flight data to determine what caused the twin-engine aircraft to go down. Government officials affirmed that the identities of the deceased are being protected until formal identification and notifications are complete.
