Nanded Sahib, Jan 25: The Punjab government will formally approach the Maharashtra administration to request ‘Holy City’ status for Nanded Sahib, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced Saturday. During a visit to Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib, the Chief Minister noted that the sacred town holds immense spiritual significance for the Sikh community and humanity.

Mann asserted that the state remains fully committed to the legacy of the Guru Sahiban, pointing out that Amritsar Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, and Talwandi Sabo have already been declared holy cities. He mentioned that granting this status to Nanded would serve as a meaningful tribute to the tenth Sikh Guru.

“Nanded Sahib is a sacred place not only for Sikhs but for entire humanity, as Guru Gobind Singh spent a considerable part of his life on this holy land,” Mann said while addressing a gathering of devotees and local residents.

The Chief Minister also visited the holy shrine of Kalgi Dhar Patshah and met with the shrine management. During his interaction, he spoke about the state’s ongoing efforts to honor Sikh history, including the commemoration of the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Teg Bahadur.

“The 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Teg Bahadur, who laid down his life for religious freedom and human rights, has been commemorated by the state government with deep devotion and reverence,” the Chief Minister said.

Furthering the commitment to pilgrim welfare, Mann announced a comprehensive facelift for the Punjab Bhavan in Nanded. The facility will be upgraded with modern amenities to better serve those traveling to the shrine. Additionally, the Chief Minister noted that the supply of Verka milk products would be streamlined in the area to benefit visiting pilgrims.

“The Punjab Bhavan constructed by the Punjab government will be upgraded with ultra-modern facilities to facilitate devotees,” Mann said. He concluded by stating that no stone will be left unturned to ensure every possible facility for the devotees visiting this sacred place.
