Ludhiana: The Sudhar police administration has initiated a formal murder investigation into the death of a 25-year-old pregnant woman, Harpreet Kaur, in Burj Littan village. Case proceedings have been established against her husband Jaspreet Singh along with two in-laws. Police officials confirmed that the husband and grandfather-in-law were taken into custody shortly after the incident was reported to the local police station.
The victim’s relatives stated that the couple was married in late September 2025 and that domestic strain had previously led the victim to reside briefly with her parents. Statements recorded with law enforcement indicate that after being brought back to her matrimonial residence, an altercation reportedly took place. Relatives who reached the scene following an early morning phone call reported finding visible marks on the body and immediately alerted the local police department.
Addressing media inquiries, Station House Officer Kulwinder Singh stated that the body has been sent for a medical examination at the civil hospital. Law enforcement authorities affirmed that legal action will proceed based on the official post-mortem report and ongoing police inquiries into the complaint.
