Multiple explosions reported in Karregutta Hills

by TheReportingTimes

Bijapur, Jan 26: A series of IED explosions in the Karregutta Hills of Chhattisgarh left eleven security personnel injured during a planned anti-Naxalite mission. The incident, which took place on Sunday, involved a coordinated team of elite CoBRA commandos and state units including the DRG and Bastar Fighters.

Six distinct blasts were reported by authorities during the sweep of the border region near Telangana. Sub-inspector Rudresh Singh of the CoBRA 210th battalion was among those caught in the explosions. The injured were moved from the remote forest location to Raipur for specialized medical care via air ambulance.

“Six explosions took place during the operation,” a police official mentioned when describing the scale of the attack. He noted that the casualties included ten members of the District Reserve Guard.

The medical staff at a Raipur private hospital confirmed that the personnel are receiving intensive care for their injuries. One attending physician mentioned that while the injuries are serious, including eye and limb damage, the surgical interventions have been successful so far.

“Three of them were operated on, while another jawan is undergoing surgery,” the doctor said regarding the status of the wounded.

The Karregutta Hills have been a focal point of recent security efforts. Last year, police said that a comprehensive operation in this specific sector led to the seizure of 35 weapons and a vast cache of explosive materials. The establishment of the Tadpala camp in November was a strategic move intended to maintain a permanent footprint in an area previously dominated by Maoist activities.
