CHANDIGARH/JALANDHAR, JAN 29 —Towards promoting social harmony, the Punjab government has finalized the registration of more than nine acres of land for the Sri Guru Ravidass Bani Adhayyan Centre near Jalandhar. The project, valued at ₹10.50 crore, is intended to act as a bridge between the historical teachings of the Guru and the modern pursuit of an egalitarian society.
The center will focus on the preservation and dissemination of the Guru’s message through research-based programs and community engagement. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema mentioned that the primary objective is to carry forward the timeless message of equality that has guided the region for six centuries.

“The main objective of the Sri Guru Ravidass Bani Adhayyan Centre is to undertake research, preservation and dissemination of the teachings of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji through seminars, publications as well as community-based programmes,” the Finance Minister said.
The land acquisition involved three distinct transactions in the villages of Naugaja and Faridpur. Cheema noted that one registry in Naugaja alone covered 64 Kanal 5 Marla at a cost of ₹5,40,98,500. Two additional registries were completed in Faridpur, totaling roughly 12 Kanal 14 Marla to complete the initial phase of the site.
“One registry pertains to village Naugaja measuring 64 Kanal 5 Marla at a cost of ₹5,40,98,500. Another registry is at village Faridpur for 2 Kanal at a cost of ₹16,74,000, while the third registry, also at village Faridpur, measures 10 Kanal 14 Marla,” Cheema said while detailing the financial layout of the project.
The administration has framed this initiative as a historic move to ensure that the Guru’s ideology remains accessible to a global audience. The center is expected to function as an educational lighthouse for the youth.
“The motive behind this measure is to make the young generation aware of the glorious history and to take a giant step forward towards erasing social and economic gaps,” Cheema said.
