Chandigarh, Feb 11: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated on Wednesday that massive industrialization is the essential path for rejuvenating the state’s economy. While reviewing preparations for the Progressive Punjab Investment Summit, the Chief Minister noted that agriculture has reached a plateau, making a shift toward industrial growth necessary for the state’s future.
The summit, scheduled for March 13-15 in Mohali, is expected to attract global industrial leaders. Mann mentioned that the state has already secured investment proposals worth Rs 1.50 lakh crore, which are projected to create approximately 5.20 lakh job opportunities for the youth.
“The state’s mainstay agriculture has already reached a plateau and massive industrialization is the only solution for the rejuvenation of the stagnated economy,” the Chief Minister said during a high-level meeting.

He noted that the government is committed to transforming Punjab into a preferred global investment destination through policy reforms and infrastructure development.
To ensure a seamless experience for investors, the state has introduced the “Green stamp paper” for land registration. Mann mentioned that this initiative facilitates faster regulatory clearances, allowing projects to move forward without administrative delays.
“This historic summit will offer a healthy platform to transform the destiny of the state by giving a major push to industrial development,” Mann said. He noted that Punjab’s status as a power-surplus state with a skilled workforce makes it a top choice for international companies like Tata Steel and Sanatan Textiles.
