Chandigarh, March 21: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has declared a “mission-mode war” on organized crime, asserting on Saturday that Punjab’s security apparatus is now more robust and technologically advanced than ever before. Presenting a four-year governance account in Chandigarh, the Chief Minister stated that the state has successfully neutralized over 1,100 gangs and seized nearly ₹55 crore in direct drug money alongside massive quantities of heroin and synthetic intoxicants.

The Chief Minister affirmed that the state government is prioritizing transparency and regular police recruitment to maintain an efficient force. He stated that over 10,000 constables and 1,000 sub-inspectors have been inducted in the last four years, with a new recruitment drive for 3,298 additional constables currently underway. He declared that unlike previous regimes, his government does not wait for election years to fill critical security vacancies.

Regarding technological upgrades, the Chief Minister maintained that “Safe City” projects are being expanded to Ludhiana, Amritsar, and Patiala following successful implementation in SAS Nagar and Jalandhar. He stated that the introduction of the Sadak Surakhya Force has fundamentally changed highway safety, saving thousands of lives through rapid response and on-the-spot medical aid. He asserted that these safety milestones are the primary reason global companies are now making a “beeline” to invest in the state.

The Chief Minister also criticized the central government’s lack of financial support for border security infrastructure. He declared that despite the lack of federal funding, the state successfully deployed anti-drone systems that have already intercepted 341 illegal weapons. He maintained that Punjab Police is acting as a national vanguard, safeguarding the country’s sovereignty against cross-border threats.

In a sharp critique of the opposition, the Chief Minister stated that the public remembers who provided political tickets to gangsters in the past. He affirmed that his administration’s zero-tolerance policy ensures that even those with distant political links will face jail if found involved in the drug trade. He concluded by stating that Punjab’s reputation as a peaceful state is being restored, ensuring a prosperous future for its citizens.
