Kaithal, March 22: A Kaithal man is in custody after allegedly strangling his wife on March 20 and subsequently informing her relatives of the act. The suspect, Arun, was arrested by a specialized police unit after the victim’s family found her deceased at their home.
The victim’s mother informed investigators that the marriage had been troubled for years due to the suspect’s involvement in illegal narcotics and recurring domestic abuse. She stated that while Shalu had moved back to her parents’ house multiple times for safety, she had been lured back to the Kaithal residence just a week before the incident.
According to police reports, the suspect was under the influence of intoxicants when he arrived home on the night of the murder. A confrontation began when the victim questioned his drug use, which led to a physical struggle.
“Arun himself reportedly called the family and confessed to killing her,” the police spokesperson stated while detailing the timeline of the discovery. Family members rushed to the house the next morning, only to find the scene as the suspect had described.
Law enforcement officials maintained that the suspect’s own statements during interrogation confirmed the details of the assault. They affirmed that the ongoing investigation will focus on the suspect’s history of substance abuse and previous reports of domestic harassment.
