Punjab Government Dismisses Lockdown Speculation

Chief Minister Cites Sufficient Fuel Stocks Amid Panic Buying Reports

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, March 28: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has appealed for calm across Punjab, stating that the state’s energy reserves are secure and that reports of a potential lockdown are entirely false. Following a Friday meeting with the Prime Minister, Mann affirmed on Saturday that Punjab possesses a two-week surplus of essential fuels, including LPG and diesel.

Addressing the recent trend of long queues at petrol pumps, the Chief Minister maintained that the situation was triggered by unfounded rumors. He stated that the government has already conducted a strategic review with oil marketing companies to guarantee that supply lines remain uninterrupted throughout the state.

“Any rumour about a lockdown is absolutely baseless,” Mann declared, asserting that the state’s administrative machinery is focused on maintaining transparency. He noted that the appointment of a dedicated nodal officer will serve to provide the press and the public with accurate, real-time data to prevent the spread of false narratives.

The Chief Minister affirmed that the state is well-prepared to handle current demand levels. He declared that there is no cause for alarm, as the average stock levels for petrol and diesel are being monitored daily to ensure they remain at the 14-day threshold.
