Mann Slams Previous Regimes for ‘Shattering’ Ambedkar’s Dreams

CM alleges Congress and Akalis weaponized illiteracy to exploit Dalit youth

Adampur, April 14: During a state-level event marking the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), asserting that both parties intentionally deprived the poor of quality education to maintain political control. Speaking in Adampur on Tuesday, Mann maintained that keeping underprivileged communities uneducated was a deliberate strategy used by previous administrations to crush the aspirations of Dalit generations.

The Chief Minister affirmed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is dedicated to reversing this legacy by prioritizing education and women’s financial autonomy. He stated that while past leaders “backstabbed” the architect of the Indian Constitution by siphoning off scholarship funds, the current government is working to ensure that every penny of the state exchequer reaches the common man.

“Education is the key that can pull people out of this vicious circle,” Mann declared, contrasting his policies with the “Atta-Dal” dependency he claimed was fostered by the Badal family. He asserted that the hands of traditional political leaders are “drenched with the blood” of SC youth whose careers were ruined due to the misappropriation of education funds.

The Chief Minister also pointed to the newly launched ‘Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana’ as a practical application of Ambedkar’s vision. He stated that providing ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 monthly to women—with a particular focus on those from Scheduled Castes—is a significant step toward financial independence. Mann maintained that those mocking the amount fail to understand the value such support holds for families who work hard even during festivals.

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, also present at the function, affirmed that the Punjab government is the only one truly following the twin pillars of education and financial empowerment. He stated that the appointment of the state’s first SC Finance Minister, Harpal Cheema, is a testament to the party’s commitment to Ambedkar’s ideology of representation and dignity.
