Mohali, April 20: To strengthen Punjab’s position in the electronics manufacturing sector, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has initiated talks with NXP Semiconductors to explore collaborative opportunities in research and innovation. During a high-level meeting on Monday, the Chief Minister advocated for the state’s potential as a destination for advanced electronics and secure connectivity solutions.

The Chief Minister asserted that the state’s strategic focus on Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) makes it a preferred destination for global tech leaders. He stated that the government is actively engaging with international firms to attract high-value investments into priority sectors like intelligent edge systems and the Internet of Things (IoT).

“Due to strenuous efforts of the state government the state has emerged as the most preferred investment destination across the globe,” Mann declared. He maintained that the presence of established players like Infosys at IT City provides a robust foundation for NXP to expand its Indian footprint into Punjab.

NXP leadership shared insights into emerging trends in automotive electronics and emphasized their existing commitment to R&D in India. The Chief Minister affirmed that Punjab is eager to support these trends by leveraging its growing automotive component ecosystem to develop secure connectivity technologies.

Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora noted that the government has invited NXP executives to visit Mohali to witness the local infrastructure firsthand. Authorities stated that the state’s vision includes fostering a startup-friendly environment that can support the rapid growth of the intelligent systems industry.
