Daily Amritsar-Doha Flights Return as Airspace Restrictions Ease

Qatar Airways and Air India Express reinstate full schedules for Punjab travelers

by TheReportingTimes

Amritsar, May 2: Qatar Airways has officially returned to a daily flight rotation at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport, ending a period of limited service caused by the Iran-Israel conflict. The airline, which had been restricted to twice-weekly flights since early March, resumed its full schedule in the last week of April to meet the high demand for international transit.

The connectivity is viewed as a major development for the region’s aviation sector. Travelers bound for the United States, Canada, and Europe frequently use the Doha hub as a primary transit point. Industry advocates affirmed that the daily frequency provides the necessary flexibility for long-haul international journeys.

“The resumption of these flights will be of great benefit to passengers, especially those going to Toronto, Montreal, and various cities in the U.S.,” stated Sameep Singh, a representative for the Fly Amritsar Initiative. He asserted that the consistent flight schedule is a positive step for the airport’s international profile.

To further assist passengers, the airline announced a policy allowing date changes without a fee for bookings made up to October. This flexibility aims to reassure travelers who may have been hesitant to book during the recent period of regional instability.

While Qatar Airways has stabilized its operations, the broader Gulf route continues to see mixed progress. Air India Express has successfully resumed its daily Sharjah service, providing relief for those traveling to the United Arab Emirates. However, travelers noted that some gaps remain in the Dubai corridor as other carriers, such as IndiGo, have not yet brought their Sharjah services back to full capacity.
