Amritsar, May 3: Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested four men allegedly involved in a cross-border arms smuggling ring. The module was caught in possession of a variety of sophisticated weaponry, including Glock and .30 bore pistols, which were reportedly intended for distribution among various criminal gangs in the state.

Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that the operation was meticulously planned following a tip-off. He affirmed that one of the accused, Satnam Singh, has a prior criminal record involving the recovery of 8 kg of heroin. The investigation revealed that the suspects are educated individuals who lived in the same neighborhoods and collaborated to facilitate the movement of weapons delivered via drones from across the border.

“Illegal weapon consignments were further distributed among criminal elements,” DGP Gaurav Yadav declared during a press briefing in Chandigarh. He maintained that the state police are committed to dismantling the entire infrastructure of such modules. The DGP asserted that more arrests and recoveries are expected as the interrogation of the four suspects continues.

The police have confirmed that the accused used social media to coordinate with their handlers in Pakistan. The recovered firearms have been sent for forensic examination, and a detailed probe is underway to determine the specific criminal activities these weapons were meant to support. Authorities affirmed that security has been tightened in the border regions to prevent further drone-based smuggling attempts.
