Chandigarh, May 8: Punjab’s AAP President Aman Arora has issued a public challenge to the Enforcement Directorate, asserting that the agency is using his personal friendships to weave a false narrative of misconduct. The reaction comes after ED raids in New Chandigarh targeted developers, including Gaurav Dhir, whom the agency labeled as an associate of the senior minister.
Arora affirmed that the investigation is a diversion from the original incident involving cash being discarded from a balcony. He stated that the agency’s focus shifted toward him without any factual basis or evidence of financial impropriety.
“It started with the bags of cash being flung from the balcony of a house. How they suddenly wove the story around me, just to get at me, is shocking,” Arora maintained. He declared that his 35-year career in public service has been defined by “clean politics” and the legacy of his late father.
The AAP leader asserted that the government’s attempt to link him to alleged middlemen Nitin Gohal and Pritpal Singh Dhindsa is groundless. He stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had already clarified that the state government maintains no association with the individuals whose premises were searched.
“I challenge ED that I will come to you personally,” Arora declared, adding that he is prepared to cooperate fully to clear his name. He maintained that targeting his friends to reach him is a sign of political desperation. When questioned about the lack of vocal support from his party colleagues, Arora affirmed that his record as a minister and legislator speaks for itself and provides all the defense necessary.
