CHANDIGARH, May 11 — A new report from NITI Aayog has ranked Punjab as the top-performing state in India for school education, marking a significant shift in the national academic landscape. The data confirms that Punjab has overtaken Kerala and other major states in primary and middle school metrics, particularly in the areas of digital literacy and student proficiency.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann shared details of the report in a video message, asserting that the state’s “Shikhya Kranti” or education revolution has achieved its primary goals. He stated that the investment in smart classrooms and advanced teacher training programs has allowed Punjab to claim the number one rank by a substantial margin.

“The state government upgraded primary and middle school education, strengthened the system, and provided advanced training to teachers,” the Chief Minister affirmed. He declared that the report validates the transition from traditional schooling to a modernized, technology-driven environment.

In a comparison with neighboring states, the Chief Minister maintained that Punjab is significantly ahead in digital education infrastructure. He noted that while Haryana’s smart classroom coverage stands at 50.3%, Punjab has reached 80.1%. He also declared that the state’s nearly universal electricity and computer availability in schools have set a new standard for the country.

The Chief Minister asserted that the high proficiency levels in Class 3 and Class 9 assessments show that government school students are receiving a high quality of instruction. He maintained that the state’s success is a testament to the hard work of the entire education department and the families involved.

“I am extremely happy to receive these figures showing Punjab leading in the field of education,” Mann affirmed. He stated that this achievement is only the beginning, as the administration continues to work toward making Punjab a leader across all sectors.
