CHANDIGARH, MAY 15 — Senior AAP leader Harpal Singh Cheema stated Thursday that the BJP’s political strategy relies on the systematic destruction of law and order to maintain control. During a press conference, the Finance Minister asserted that recent violence in Chandigarh and the rise of gangsterism in Gujarat are direct results of the BJP’s administrative failures.
Cheema provided a statistical breakdown to show that Punjab’s current leadership has successfully curtailed the influence of gangsters, unlike BJP-ruled states. He stated that the crime rate in Delhi is nearly seven times higher than that of Punjab, affirming that the “City Beautiful” of Chandigarh is losing its reputation due to Union Home Ministry oversight.
“The BJP is trying to intimidate Punjabi voices and influential personalities to force them into joining the party,” the Minister maintained. He declared that these efforts to silence dissent extend to targeting associates of prominent artists who refuse to enter the political arena under the BJP banner.
The Minister also criticized the Haryana government, stating that leadership there is more focused on interfering with Punjab’s internal matters than addressing the high crime rates within their own borders. He affirmed that the state of Punjab suffered under previous coalitions but has since established a “backbone-breaking” strategy against organized crime.
“Gangsters are operating networks, issuing threats and running extortion rackets from Gujarat jails while the BJP government looks the other way,” Cheema stated. He concluded by asserting that the public now recognizes the BJP’s use of central agencies as a tool for political coercion rather than justice.
